Our Walks
We produce a quarterly walks programme, and newsletter, which is circulated to our members. But a selection of our walks which is available to everyone is given on the Ramblers Group Walks Finder.
We offer short walks on Wednesdays and week-ends. These are often about 3-5 miles long, over flat ground with some fairly gentle slopes. The pace is leisurely though you need to be fit. Usually there will be a break so you should bring a drink but there will be no lunch stop. All of these walks will be accessible by public transport and many of them take place in or near Croydon.
Longer walks often take us further afield, to the North Downs or High Weald for example. Many of these can be reached by train, and a specific train from East or West Croydon will be recommended in the programme. You should bring something to eat and drink at the lunch stop. Unless indicated on the programme we do not stop at a pub or cafe for lunch.
In the summer we may even go further afield, the South Downs being a favourite area.
Throughout the year there will be special interest walks, sometimes involving a coach trip. Recent examples include a trip to Blenheim Palace, a walk along the Thames Path to include a tour of the Wetlands Centre at Barnes, a visit to the "Hidden Gardens" of the City of London, and a walk from Eastbourne to include Birling Gap and Beachy Head.
Once a year we lead a walk for the London Blind Group of walkers.
In short, our programme is very varied. There should be something which should appeal to you!
